Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has opened up about the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), stating that he does not need the award platform to prove his worth as an actor.

Speaking during a recent podcast appearance, the filmmaker said his talent and contribution to Nollywood cannot be measured by awards or nominations. According to him, years of work and performances in the movie industry already speak for themselves.

Yul explained that although many people often question why he has never won an AMVCA, he has never allowed it to affect his confidence or passion for acting. He added that he remains focused on delivering quality performances instead of seeking validation from award organisers.

He also noted that he avoids calling himself the greatest actor out of respect for his father, veteran actor Pete Edochie, who is widely regarded as one of Nollywood’s most respected figures.

According to Yul, he has no personal issues with the organisers of the AMVCA and has never publicly demanded recognition from the award body. He further stated that support from fans and the impact of his work matter more to him than trophies.
