Jason Statham returns in explosive Beekeeper 2 trailer
Jason Statham returns as former operative Adam Clay in the first trailer for The Beekeeper 2, which sees him take on the secretive organisation that trained him after it turns against the United States government.
The trailer, released by Amazon MGM Studios, introduces a new mission for Clay, who is recruited by Wallace Westwyld, played by Jeremy Irons, to stop the rogue Beekeepers from seizing control of the government. The film is scheduled to arrive in US cinemas on January 15, 2027.
The sequel continues the story of Clay, a former government operative whose quiet life as a beekeeper was disrupted in the 2024 film after his friend was defrauded by a criminal network. His pursuit of those responsible exposed a wider system of corruption, leading him to use his training to take down those involved.
In the new film, the threat comes from within his former organisation, forcing Clay to confront operatives who share his training and methods.
The trailer features several action sequences, including a weaponised 1969 Dodge Super Bee equipped with a machine gun. Westwyld provides the car to Clay as he prepares for the mission. Other scenes show the protagonist engaging his opponents in brutal fights, including a confrontation involving a flamethrower.
Jeremy Irons reprises his role as Westwyld, while Yara Shahidi, Pom Klementieff and Adam Copeland join the cast in new roles. Jemma Redgrave, Emmy Raver-Lampman and Bobby Naderi also return from the first film.
Indonesian filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto directs the sequel, taking over from David Ayer, who helmed the original. Kurt Wimmer, who co-wrote the first film, returns to write the screenplay alongside Zak Penn. Statham also serves as a producer.
Released in January 2024, The Beekeeper followed Clay as he sought revenge against the people responsible for a phishing scam that cost his friend her savings. The film expanded from a personal mission into a wider confrontation with powerful figures connected to the criminal operation.
