Actress Bisola Aiyeola opens up on single motherhood and views on marriage
Nigerian actress and former Big Brother Naija housemate Bisola Aiyeola has shared her honest thoughts on relationships, explaining that while she is open to marriage, it is not the main focus of her life.
Speaking during an interview on the In My Opinion podcast, the movie star reflected on modern relationships, gender roles, and her personal journey as a single mother.
Bisola opened up about being a single mother to her 17-year-old daughter, noting that raising a child alone comes with heavy challenges. She explained that she often reminds her daughter that single parenting is not something anyone should strive for because carrying the full responsibility alone is draining.
"Bearing the whole load of raising a child shouldn't be for one person alone," she said.
Celebrating her milestone 40th birthday in January, the actress expressed how happy and fulfilled she feels at this stage of her life. "I turned 40 in January. I love me so much. And this is best times of my life," she shared.
Sharing her perspective on why many modern women are rethinking marriage, Bisola pointed out the frustration of women who still have to carry all the weight even inside a relationship. She questioned why a woman should stay tied to a partner if she still has to play the role of breadwinner, bear children, and handle all domestic chores alone without true support.
Despite her observations, she acknowledged that marriage remains an essential institution for society. Her candid interview has since sparked fresh conversations across social media about gender roles, female independence, and the realities of modern marriage.
