Nigerian filmmaker Femi Adebayo has unveiled Funke Akindele, Fuji musicians Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwam 1, and Wasiu Alabi Pasuma among the new cast members of Jagun Jagun 2, the sequel to his 2023 Yoruba epic film.

The film is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on December 4, 2026, following the success of the original, which won several awards at the 2024 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA) and Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).

Other new additions to the cast include Muka Ray, comedian Cute Abiola, and veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo. The announcement also lists the late Hassan among the performers expected to appear in the sequel.

The new cast members will join several actors from the first film, including Lateef Adedimeji, Bimbo Ademoye, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Yekini, popularly known as Itele D Icon, Fathia Balogun, Adebayo Salami, Muyiwa Ademola, Yinka Quadri and Dele Odule.

The first Jagun Jagun, released on Netflix on August 10, 2023, follows Gbotija, a young man who joins a warrior's army while seeking to avenge his father's death. His growing strength brings him into conflict with Ogundiji, a feared warlord whose authority extends across several kingdoms.

The film features themes of power, loyalty, warfare and the struggle for control. Its Yoruba-language setting and battle sequences helped establish it as one of Adebayo's major epic productions.

At the 2024 AMVCA, Jagun Jagun won Best Indigenous Language Movie (West Africa) and Best Costume Design. At the 2024 AMAA, it received seven nominations and won three awards: Achievement in Makeup, Achievement in Visual Effects, and Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Adebayo.

The sequel's cast announcement comes as Adebayo continues to expand his filmmaking activities through Euphoria360 Media, the production company behind Jagun Jagun and other Nigerian films.

Jagun Jagun 2 will be available on Netflix from December 4, 2026.
