YCee Opens Up On Reason Behind Music Hiatus
Nigerian singer Oludemilade Martin Alejo, known as YCee, has addressed his years-long absence from the music industry, saying it was a deliberate step taken for personal growth.
Speaking on a livestream with streamer Carter Efe, the "Juice" singer said he stepped away from music to focus on self-development and described the period as a journey of self-discovery. “I have been on the mountain. I went on a journey of self-discovery. But I am back,” he said.
YCee also spoke about the story behind his nickname "Omo Alhaji," explaining that his father is Muslim, though he himself is not a practicing Muslim. He described his personal spiritual outlook as centred on love.
Before his break, YCee was one of the dominant voices in Nigerian music, with hits including "Jagaban," "Juice," and "Omo Alhaji."
