Wizkid Surpasses 11.5 Billion Spotify Streams Across Catalogue
Wizkid has surpassed 11.5 billion streams across his catalogue and credited appearances on Spotify, reaching another record that further widens his lead among African artists on the streaming platform.
The new record comes months after the Nigerian star became the first African artist to cross 10 billion Spotify streams across all credits, before extending that record past 11 billion earlier this year.
Spotify data compiled by music analytics platform Kworb shows the scale of Wizkid's catalogue. As of August 5, his music had generated more than 11.26 billion streams, with nearly eight billion of those coming from featured appearances and more than 3.29 billion from records where he is the lead artist.
His biggest streaming contributor remains Drake's 2016 global hit One Dance, on which Wizkid and Kyla are featured. The song has amassed more than 4.39 billion Spotify streams, making it one of the platform's most-streamed songs of all time. Other major performers in his catalogue include 'Essence' featuring Tems, 'Come Closer' featuring Drake, 'Joro', 'Ginger' featuring Burna Boy, 'Ojuelegba', 'Kese' (Dance), and this year's collaboration with Asake, 'Jogodo'.
Released in 2014, 'Ojuelegba' recently crossed the 100 million-stream mark on Spotify more than a decade after its release, while 'Essence' remains his most-streamed song as a lead artist with nearly 389 million plays.
Wizkid currently attracts around 18 million monthly listeners on Spotify. His catalogue spans six studio albums, from 'Superstar' to 'Morayo', alongside dozens of collaborations that continue to drive his streaming numbers.
