Tanzanian singer Zuchu has confirmed her separation from husband and label boss, Diamond Platnumz, after six years together.

She broke the news in an Instagram story on Sunday, without giving a specific reason for the split.

"We tried, but Allah has His own plans," she wrote.

Zuchu, who is signed to Diamond's WCB Wasafi label, said the couple is now going through a divorce.

"My husband and I are now separated and going through a divorce. I announce this with a heavy heart. After 6 years of being together, I've finally decided to choose myself," she said.

She added that she is prioritising her health, healing and her music career going forward.

The couple got married in a private Islamic ceremony, with reports crediting five years of togetherness before the wedding.

Diamond Platnumz is yet to publicly respond to the announcement.
