Nigerian singers Wande Coal and Davido have clashed publicly over an unreleased version of Wande Coal’s 2021 song, ‘Come My Way’, after differing accounts of why their planned collaboration was never officially released.

The dispute began after Davido discussed the song during a recent interview with Uncut, explaining that Wande Coal had approached him for a feature and that he recorded a verse for the track.

According to Davido, the disagreement arose over the release strategy. He said Wande Coal wanted to release the original song first and subsequently use his contribution for a remix, a plan he did not accept because he had not recorded his verse for a remix.

“I recorded the song, then he wanted to drop the song first and use my own verse for the remix,” Davido said, adding that the disagreement was why the collaboration was never released. He also described his unreleased verse as “stupid hard.”

Wande Coal rejected Davido’s account in a post on X on Tuesday, August 18, arguing that Come My Way already had a release plan and date before Davido’s contribution.

“Song wey been get release plan and date!!! Song wey no be your own you wan dictate release plan,” Wande Coal wrote, adding that the song “did well without you on it bruv.”

The exchange later became personal, with both artistes calling themselves names.

Davido subsequently claimed that Wande Coal had attempted to contact him weeks before their public dispute, saying the singer had asked a mutual contact for his phone number. He posted a WhatsApp screenshot dated July 22 that appeared to show a message stating that Wande wanted his number.

Wande Coal challenged the claim, asking why Davido had not posted the full conversation. He later accused Davido of “capping on National TV” and described him as a “talentless fool,” further escalating the exchange.

‘Come My Way’ was officially released by Wande Coal as a solo single in October 2021 and was later included on his 2023 album, Legend or No Legend.
