Social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan, says he has been invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

He disclosed this on his Instagram page on Friday, linking the development to a petition filed against him and activist-lawyer Deji Adeyanju.

The petition was submitted by lawyer Blessing Agbomhere of Blessing Agbomhere & Partners, calling on the EFCC to investigate the pair's finances, including their sources of funding and sponsorship.

Responding to the invitation, VeryDarkMan claimed the move was politically motivated, accusing figures within the ruling All Progressives Congress of working behind the scenes to get the petition filed.

He argued that the goal was to intimidate voices critical of the government's record on security, telling his followers that the petition was a tool used by APC loyalists to go after him and Adeyanju.

VeryDarkMan has not yet disclosed when he is expected to appear before the commission.
