'Trials and Tribulations' — Broda Shaggi Breaks Social Media Silence With Cryptic Post
Nigerian comedian Samuel Perry, known as Broda Shaggi, resurfaced on social media on Monday, August 3, sharing a clip from an unreleased Ruger track titled "Jesus Loves Me" on his Instagram story, months after reports that he had been shot while filming a skit in Ogun State.
Shaggi has remained largely absent from public life since March 2026, when reports claimed he was shot in the thigh while filming near Sango-Ota in Ogun State. Police denied any record of the incident at the time, though the comedian withdrew from public view shortly after. His absence from Peller and Jarvis's Lagos wedding has added to the concern among fans and colleagues.
Monday's post follows a string of cryptic updates over recent months. In late July, he shared a picture of himself flashing a peace sign, his first visible re-emergence since the shooting reports, without caption or explanation. In April, he posted a message thanking God for holding him through circumstances he said he didn't fully understand, after locking comments on an earlier post that had alarmed followers.
In June, a false rumour claiming he had died circulated online. His colleague Officer Woos publicly denied any connection to the claim and threatened legal action over what his lawyers called a defamatory fabrication.
Neither Shaggi nor his representatives have addressed the shooting reports or explained his months-long withdrawal from public life.
