'Tiwa Savage's Resilience Inspired Me To Survive' — Ex-FUOYE SUG President On Leaked Video
Former FUOYE Students' Union Government President James Adio says Tiwa Savage's resilience after her own leaked tape inspired him to push through when his explicit video went viral.
Adio disclosed in an interview with Tiamiyu Adebayo TV, conducted in Yoruba.
He drew a direct comparison to the singer's 2021 tape leak. "I am not half of where she was… but she overcame," he said.
Adio said he was unaware of the online backlash until he checked his phone later that day, and the outpouring of support from students convinced him not to quit.
"If I actually give up, I have failed the people because they actually believe in me," he said.
He also credited his mother and family for standing by him. "I was even thinking my family was going to rebuke me, but it didn't happen," he said.
Adio's video surfaced shortly after FUOYE suspended him over alleged financial extortion involving newly admitted students, with the university tracing about ₦700,000 in unauthorised levies to his account. Two students were later suspended over the video's circulation.
He has since completed his studies and exited the university.
