Spyro Sets the Record Straight on His No-Smoking, No-Nudity Rule
Singer Spyro has revealed the personal standards that govern his music collaborations, saying he maintains strict conditions on conduct in videos and the kind of content he associates himself with.
Speaking on TVC, the Who Is Your Guy hitmaker said no one featuring alongside him is permitted to smoke or appear nude on screen, and that he equally turns down features on songs he considers unclean.
"You can't be in a video with me, and you're smoking. That can't happen. You can't be in a video with me, and you're naked. That won't happen. I have rules and regulations for working with people," he said.
The singer also opened up about his collaboration with Shoday on the track "Sweet", revealing that he reached out to the rising act over what he described as an inappropriate approach to promoting the song, and used the opportunity to encourage him to embrace Christianity.
"When I did 'Sweet' with Shoday, Shoday was promoting it in some funny kind of way, and I called him. I said, Shoday, give your life to Christ. And he said I should continue my own while he faces his," Spyro recalled.
He added that his presence in the Nigerian music industry is driven by faith, expressing optimism that more entertainers will eventually come around to Christian beliefs.
"Even if he's not with Christ, he's coming to Christ. Until every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. That's why I'm in this industry. It's a gradual process," he said.
