Speed Darlington calls out Burna Boy ahead of Carter Efe boxing fight
Nigerian rapper Speed Darlington has called out Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy for a boxing match ahead of his scheduled celebrity bout with comedian Carter Efe.
Speed Darlington made the challenge during a press conference for his upcoming fight against Carter Efe, where he said Burna Boy would not be able to defeat him in the ring.
He challenged Burna Boy to face him, saying he would be willing to fight the singer whenever the opportunity arises.
The call-out comes amid the long-running dispute between the two entertainers, which has previously led to legal action and several public exchanges.
Speed Darlington was arrested in 2024 after Burna Boy petitioned the police over comments he made about the singer. The rapper later sued the Inspector-General of Police, seeking ₦300 million over his detention.
Their feud continued after Speed Darlington released his “Baby Oil” diss track, further directing attention to his dispute with Burna Boy.
The rapper also has a history with celebrity boxing. He lost to Portable in a celebrity boxing match in April 2025, while Burna Boy later gifted Portable ₦20 million following the victory.
Speed Darlington is now set to return to the ring against Carter Efe on October 1 in Lagos. The bout, titled Chaos in the Ring, is being promoted as a celebrity boxing event.
Carter Efe has also linked the upcoming fight to Speed Darlington’s history with Burna Boy, saying Speed’s comments about the singer are among the reasons he wants to defeat him.
