Nigerian singer Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, has accused music executive Damilola “Dapper” Akinwunmi of withholding royalties from his songs and selling his music catalogue without properly accounting for the proceeds.

Shallipopi made the allegations on Friday, August 14, in a series of posts on X, escalating a dispute involving the singer and the founder of Dapper Music.

The singer claimed Dapper was holding money owed to him from 46 songs, including revenue connected to his music catalogue. He also alleged that the catalogue had been sold while the label failed to provide adequate financial accounting.

“Dapper you Dey hold me money o, and u sell my catalog now u Dey act confused,” Shallipopi wrote, according to multiple reports.

He further accused the music executive of misleading the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), saying he would personally submit a statement to the anti-graft agency over the matter.

The allegations emerged amid a broader dispute between Dapper Music and some of its former and current acts.

Earlier on Friday, T.I Blaze accused the label of failing to account for about ₦1.2 billion allegedly connected to royalties and music licensing. He also questioned the role of Virgin Music in the arrangement and alleged that his intellectual property had been licensed without his consent.

Seyi Vibez also criticised Dapper, alleging that money generated from his career had been used to finance the signing of other artists. He suggested that other artists still associated with the label could eventually face similar problems.

Shallipopi’s allegations are yet to be independently established, and Dapper has not publicly issued a response addressing the latest accusations in the reports reviewed.
