Veteran Nollywood actress Remi Surutu has stirred reactions online after sharing her views on ethnic unity and the rising cost of fuel in Nigeria.

In a recent statement, the actress commended a family she described as kind and well-meaning, using the moment to reflect on what she believes is a growing lack of unity among Yoruba people.

According to her, internal criticism and division often take center stage, slowing down collective growth and progress.

Shifting focus to the ongoing fuel price concerns, Surutu also came to the defence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, popularly known as Asiwaju. She argued that fuel pricing is not solely controlled by the Nigerian government.

Instead, she pointed out that global economic factors and decisions made by world leaders significantly influence fuel costs, suggesting that the issue is more complex than it is often portrayed.

Her comments have since sparked mixed reactions, with many Nigerians debating both her stance on unity and her defence of the government’s role in fuel pricing.
