Rema Breaks New Billboard Record as Rave & Roses Hits 170 Weeks on World Albums Chart
Nigerian superstar Rema has set a new milestone on the Billboard World Albums Chart as his debut album, Rave & Roses, officially becomes the longest-charting African album in history with 170 weeks on the chart.
The achievement pushes Rema ahead of the previous record holder, Made In Lagos by Wizkid, which spent 164 weeks on the same chart.
With this new record, Rave & Roses now sits at the top of the list of African albums with the longest run on Billboard’s World Albums Chart.
Other African projects that have also enjoyed long stays on the chart include Born In The Wild by Tems (79 weeks), Love, Damini by Burna Boy (63 weeks), and The Best of the Black President by legendary Fela Anikulapo Kuti (45 weeks).
Rema also had another big moment this week as his song Secondhand, a collaboration with Don Toliver, entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number 29. This marks his second appearance on the prestigious singles chart.
Meanwhile, Tems added to her own success story as her new song What You Need also debuted on the Hot 100 this week. The entry brings her total number of Hot 100 songs to seven, tying her with Burna Boy and South African band Seether for the highest number of Hot 100 entries by African acts.
The latest achievements highlight the growing influence of Afrobeats and African music on the global stage, with Nigerian artists continuing to rewrite history on international charts.
