Nigerian comedian and actress Real Warri Pikin has apologised to her husband, Ikechukwu, and her fans following a viral stage moment with singer Timaya at the 2026 AFRIMMA event in Dallas, Texas.

The incident happened shortly after Real Warri Pikin, whose real name is Anita Asuoha, won the Best Stand-Up Comedian award at the event. During Timaya’s performance of his hit song “Ukwu,” he invited a woman to join him on stage, prompting the comedian to come out from backstage.

Real Warri Pikin later jumped onto Timaya, who lifted her as part of the performance. Timaya also acknowledged her husband, saying, “Ikechukwu, no vex for me oo!”

The footage quickly circulated online, drawing criticism from some viewers who questioned the appropriateness of the interaction because of her marriage.

Addressing the reaction in a video shared on social media, Real Warri Pikin said she did not know that bringing a woman on stage was part of Timaya’s performance. She explained that she was backstage enjoying the event when she heard Timaya call for a woman to come on stage. She said she rushed out because she enjoys a good performance, but did not expect what followed.

Real Warri Pikin said she initially refused when Timaya asked her to jump on him and was reluctant to participate. According to her, Timaya encouraged her to continue because she had already joined the performance.

She acknowledged that the moment was entertaining as it happened, but said she understood why the reaction was different online.

The comedian also addressed comments from people asking her to leave her marriage, saying her husband was upset about the incident but that she had no intention of leaving him.

She apologised to her fans and said the incident was out of character for her.

Real Warri Pikin and Ikechukwu have been married since 2013. The comedian's apology came a day after she won the Best Stand-Up Comedian award at AFRIMMA 2026.
