Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon has opened up on why he walked away from acting in 2019.

He spoke on the CreativiTea podcast about his career and the decision to step back.

Okanlawon said he wasn't fulfilled by the work at the time.

"So, I quit acting in 2019. I quit because the pay was nonsense, the work was nonsense," he said.

He added that he didn't leave a 9-5 job to do mediocre work.

"It was difficult to wake up in the morning and go to work, and what is the point of being passionate about something and then not being fulfilled by it?" he said.

Okanlawon said he returned to 9-5 work after quitting.

He reportedly took up a corporate role as head of marketing for Silverbird Film Distribution before returning to acting a year later.
