‎Nollywood actor Baba Ijesha and his partner Luminee have welcomed their first child together, a baby boy.
‎
‎Luminee shared the news on Instagram with an emotional post announcing the birth. “We are overwhelmed with joy. Our little star has arrived to light up our lives,” she wrote. She described the child as a miracle and said their hearts were full. In the post, she called her son King Kagar Omiyinka and told fans, “Feel free to call me Mummy King Kagar. The crown is permanent!” She also praised Baba Ijesha, calling him “my ever strong man” and “one in millions,” adding “I love you till Eternity.”
‎
‎The birth quickly sparked controversy online. Big Brother Naija star Angel JB Smith criticised Luminee for having a child with Baba Ijesha, referencing his past conviction.
‎
‎“How can you as a woman, have a baby with this person knowing his crime,” Angel wrote. “You had a CHILD with someone who committed such a visceral crime to another child.” She added, “Ka Chineke chebe anyi ka ekwensu ghara iduba anyi n’olulu,” an Igbo prayer asking for protection from evil.
‎
‎Baba Ijesha, real name Olanrewaju James, was convicted in 2022 for sexually assaulting a minor. The case drew national attention and led to a 16-year prison sentence. He was later released on bail pending appeal. His relationship with Luminee became public after his release, and the two held a traditional wedding.
‎
‎While many fans congratulated the couple and sent prayers to the newborn, others echoed Angel’s concerns online.
‎
‎The debate has reignited conversations about forgiveness, accountability, and the rights of people with criminal records to start families.
‎
‎Luminee has not responded to the criticism. For now, she’s focused on motherhood, calling the birth a story “only God could tell.”
