Odumodublvck challenges police over attempted arrest in Lagos
Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck confronted police officers who attempted to take him into custody after his performance at BOHO nightclub in Lagos in the early hours of Saturday.
A video of the incident showed the rapper inside a vehicle surrounded by police officers, with one officer asking why he was refusing to follow them after an earlier police invitation.
“Are you resisting an arrest? If you’re not resisting an arrest, tell me why you are not following the police?” the officer asked.
Odumodublvck maintained that his lawyers had already responded to the matter and questioned the officers’ authority to take him away.
“You don’t have any jurisdiction,” he said. “My lawyers came to your office, I am not resisting arrest, it was attended to.”
The rapper also claimed that a motion ex parte barred the police from arresting him and said it was illegal to take him from the venue.
The circumstances behind the attempted arrest have not been officially disclosed by the police. There has also been no independent confirmation of the alleged court order.
