Nollywood actor Ikechukwu Nweke has publicly disclosed that he is battling colon cancer, appealing to Nigerians for financial assistance to continue his treatment.

In a video shared on Instagram on Friday and titled My Cancer Journey, the actor revealed that he was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2025. According to him, he has spent more than ₦15 million on chemotherapy, radiotherapy, medical tests, scans and medications since beginning treatment.

Nweke said he had chosen to keep his health condition private but decided to speak out after the cost of his treatment became too difficult to bear. He explained that his doctors have recommended another phase of treatment, which he says is necessary to improve his chances of recovery.

The actor expressed gratitude to his family and colleagues in the film industry who have supported him throughout his illness. He specifically acknowledged Uche Nancy, Destiny Etiko, Lizzy Gold, Ebele Okaro and others for standing by him during the challenging period.

Appealing to members of the public, Nweke said any form of assistance, whether financial support, prayers, or sharing his video, would help him continue his fight against the disease. He also shared his account details for those willing to contribute toward his medical expenses.
