Singer Niniola Apata has released a new single, ‘O Dun Mi’, in honour of her late husband, Michael Ndika.

The three-minute song, released on Friday, is Niniola’s first musical release since Ndika died in May.

The singer announced the release on Instagram, describing the track as a personal tribute to her husband, who was also her former manager.

‘O Dun Mi’ reflects on Niniola’s grief following Ndika’s death and the memories they shared.

Niniola said the song was also created for people who have lost loved ones and continue to deal with the pain of their absence.

“Some songs are made to entertain. Others are born from moments that change us forever. ‘O Dun Mi’ is my deeply personal tribute to a man who was not only my life partner, but an important part of my journey and career,”
she wrote.

She added that the song was for “everyone who has lost someone they love,” describing it as a reflection of the memories and love that remain after losing someone.

Ndika was Niniola’s husband and longtime manager. He was also the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, a multimedia platform focused on Afro-house and contemporary African music.

The couple had been together for 13 years before his death.

Niniola had previously spoken publicly about her grief, including sharing memories of visiting Ndika in hospital during his illness.

With ‘O Dun Mi’ the singer has returned to music with a song dedicated to preserving the memory of her late husband.
