Ghanaian actress Nadia Buari has warned fans to be cautious after discovering that multiple WhatsApp usernames linked to her name had already been claimed, raising fears of impersonation.

Sharing her experience on social media, the actress revealed that every variation of her name she attempted to register on WhatsApp's new username feature had already been taken. She expressed concern that fraudsters could use the usernames to deceive unsuspecting people.

Buari urged her followers to stay alert and verify anyone claiming to be her on the messaging platform. She described the situation as worrying, saying the speed at which imposters secured the usernames shows how easily scammers can exploit new technology.

WhatsApp recently introduced its username feature, allowing users to connect without sharing their phone numbers. The update has sparked discussions about privacy and impersonation, prompting the platform to reassure users that the feature includes safeguards to reduce abuse.

The actress's warning comes amid growing concerns that cybercriminals could take advantage of the new feature by creating usernames that resemble those of celebrities and public figures, making it easier to impersonate them online.
