Laycon says BBNaija win saved mother’s life, opens up on career choices
Laycon BBNaija win has taken a personal turn after the reality star revealed that winning the show helped him save his mother’s life.
The Big Brother Naija season five winner said his mother was seriously ill while he was in the house and was close to death by the time he returned. According to him, the prize money from the show made it possible to pay for her treatment.
He stated that finishing as runner-up would not have given him the financial capacity to handle the medical bills, insisting that the outcome of the show made a critical difference.
Laycon made the disclosure during a podcast interview, where he spoke candidly about the situation and how it shaped his perspective after the show.
He also addressed his transition into the film industry, explaining that early offers came mainly because of his popularity from the reality show rather than proven acting ability.
According to him, producers reached out for roles despite not seeing him act, which made him question the motive behind the opportunities.
The singer added that public opinions have continued to shape narratives around his career path, with some suggesting his move into film and further education was due to challenges in music.
However, he maintained that such views are based on assumptions, noting that people will always interpret his decisions differently regardless of his intentions.
