Jude Okoye Denies Diverting $1.2m in P-Square Royalties, Says Matter Already Before Court
Former P-Square manager Jude Okoye has denied allegations by his younger brother Peter Okoye that he diverted more than $1.2 million in music royalties, saying the claims have already been examined by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and remain before a court.
In a video posted to Instagram on Sunday, Jude said royalty payments and financial distributions were made according to existing agreements and backed by documentation.
He addressed Peter's claim that he and their twin brother Paul Okoye (Rudeboy) diverted a $25,000 royalty payment, saying the payment followed instructions Peter gave in 2016. Records from digital distributor IROKO, according to Jude, show Peter had asked for his own share to be paid directly to him, while the balance owed to Jude and Paul went into the Northside Entertainment account.
Jude rejected Peter's claim that he was removed as a signatory on P-Square's bank accounts, saying Peter remained a signatory throughout and that the bank mandate had already been submitted in court.
He also disputed a claim that it took three and a half months to hand over the group's music catalogue backend records, saying the request was fulfilled within six days and that download logs showed Peter accessed the files immediately.
"You are trying to bait me. You know the court is not going to your favour," Jude said, accusing Peter of trying to sway public opinion while the case is still active. He asked why Peter has missed multiple court sessions.
Peter's allegations, made in a series of videos released Sunday, include claims that Jude secretly registered a separate company to receive P-Square's royalties without his knowledge, and that Paul has sided with Jude in the dispute.
Jude said he would not comment further on matters before the court beyond correcting claims he described as false.
