Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has said being married does not automatically make a woman happier, arguing that some single mothers may be more fulfilled than women in marriages.

Iyabo Ojo made the comment during an appearance on The Morayo Show, where she discussed relationships, motherhood and the source of her happiness.

Speaking about single motherhood, the actress said she and other single mothers were happy, while acknowledging that some married women were also content with their marriages.

“We (single mothers) are happy. I think some married women are happy too. I don’t think it’s about being single or being married,” she said.

According to her, the quality of a woman's relationship matters more than whether she has a marriage certificate.

“I think it’s about the person that you’re with,” she added.

The actress also linked a woman’s appearance and confidence to her sex life, saying intimacy plays a role in what she described as a woman’s “glow.”

“Sex has a lot to do with a woman’s glow. I’m getting more than enough,” Ojo said, adding jokingly that some women with marriage certificates might not be getting enough..

Ojo married Ademidun Ojo in 1999 at the age of 21, and the marriage produced two children before the couple separated in 2001. The former couple later appeared together publicly at their daughter Priscilla Ojo’s wedding in 2025
