Iran Issues Warning Over UAE Ports as Gulf Tensions Intensify
Iran’s military has warned that port areas in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) could become targets in the ongoing confrontation involving the United States.
In a statement aired by Iranian state media, the country’s military command said it could strike locations it believes are being used to support US military operations in the region. Residents were advised to stay away from port facilities for safety.
The warning came shortly after reports of a fire near Fujairah, one of the UAE’s major oil and shipping centres. Authorities said the incident happened after air defence systems intercepted a drone, with falling debris triggering the blaze.
The situation unfolded hours after the US reportedly launched strikes on Iran’s Kharg Island, a strategic hub for the country’s oil exports.
The exchange has heightened fears of wider disruption across the Gulf, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, a key route used to transport a significant share of the world’s oil.
