IK Ogbonna Denies Alleged Involvement in $75,000 Romance Scam
Nigerian actor IK Ogbonna has denied reports linking him to an alleged $75,000 romance scam and claims that he was invited for questioning by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in collaboration with the FBI.
The reports, which circulated online on Friday, alleged that a 49-year-old American woman, identified as Kimberly Ann, filed a complaint claiming she had been in an online relationship since 2025.
Reacting via his Instagram Story, Ogbonna described the report as "completely false, malicious, and without any factual basis."
"I don't support or participate in any form of internet fraud, romance scams, or any other fraudulent activity," he wrote.
The actor also warned the public about impersonators using his identity on social media, saying it was not the first time unknown individuals had used his name, image, and likeness to deceive unsuspecting people.
"I have never authorized anyone to represent me online, solicit money on my behalf, or engage in private conversations pretending to be me," he said.
Ogbonna urged members of the public to remain vigilant and avoid fake accounts that exploit his identity to scam unsuspecting victims.
