Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has spoken publicly for the first time about the death of his close friend and colleague, Alexx Ekubo, nearly two months after the actor's passing.

In an emotional Instagram video shared on Tuesday, July 14, Ogbonna described Ekubo as his "best friend" and "brother," saying the loss forced him to reflect deeply on life, faith, grief and the uncertainty of tomorrow.

Alexx Ekubo died on May 11 after battling stage four kidney cancer. He was laid to rest in Arochukwu, Abia State, on June 18.

Reflecting on the past two months, Ogbonna said he had struggled to understand why someone "so full of life" could suddenly become a memory. He admitted that losing Ekubo made him question why people often postpone expressing love, forgiveness and appreciation, believing there will always be another opportunity.

"Tomorrow is a privilege. Not a promise. All we truly own is this moment," he wrote.

The actor also recalled the dreams he shared with Ekubo, including plans for future business ventures, film projects and family legacies. He said he still finds himself wanting to call his late friend whenever something amusing happens, only to remember that those conversations are no longer possible.

He says the experience has changed his outlook on life, shifting his focus from material achievements to the importance of relationships and showing up for loved ones.

He encouraged people to express love while they still have the chance, urging them to forgive quickly, appreciate those around them and regularly check on family and friends.

Ending the tribute, Ogbonna thanked Ekubo for their years of friendship and said he would always cherish the memories they shared, adding that he looked forward to meeting him again.
