Singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, known as Portable, has defended First Lady Remi Tinubu over her small-scale business advice to unemployed Nigerian women.

Mrs Tinubu had faced backlash after urging unemployed women to consider frying akara or selling roasted corn for survival.

Speaking on The Honest Bunch Podcast, Portable said the First Lady's comments were misunderstood.

He argued that many wealthy Nigerians were raised on money their parents made from petty trades.

Portable said small-scale business is far more lucrative than people think.

He claimed he saw a corn seller driving a Benz during a trip to London.

"Nigerians misunderstood what Remi Tinubu meant. If you look at many wealthy people in this country, their mothers trained them by selling pepper and roasted corn. When I went to London, I even saw someone selling corn while using a Benz," Portable said.
