Nollywood actress and producer Ruth Kadiri says marriage was never something she grew up chasing, and she knew her worth long before a husband came along.

Speaking on the Dear Ife podcast with media personality Ifedayo Agoro, the Edo-born filmmaker said she never fantasised about marriage or felt any pressure to settle down.

"I've never really been the girl who sits down and thinks about marriage. It wasn't a thing for me. I didn't even know whether I was going to marry. I knew I was a catch and anyone who was going to marry me was going to be lucky," she said.

Kadiri revealed she met her husband, Mr. Ezerika, at work after he approached her to start a conversation. She was not initially interested, but a friend encouraged her to engage him, and the conversation quickly turned to business, importation, and Vietnam.

As she rose to leave, she said the Holy Spirit told her he was her future husband. Two days later, she blocked him anyway.

"As I was about to walk away, the Spirit of God told me he's my husband. Two days later, I blocked him, but he went the extra mile to find me. Months later, he proposed to me, and I accepted," she added.

The mother of two also revealed she turned down three proposals before her husband. The couple wed in a private ceremony in 2019 with just 50 guests, a decision Kadiri says remains one of the best she has ever made.
