The 18th edition of the Headies Awards is reportedly scheduled to take place in Toronto, Canada.

Reports indicate that the forthcoming ceremony will be held under the theme, “Africa to the World,” following the 17th edition of the awards, which took place in Lagos.

Canada will become the third country to host the Headies after Nigeria and the United States. The awards were previously staged in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2022 as part of efforts to expand their international reach.

The 17th Headies Awards marked the event’s return to Nigeria, with Davido emerging as the winner of the Artiste of the Year category.

The development has generated mixed reactions on social media, with some fans describing the reported Toronto hosting as a reflection of Afrobeats’ global influence. Others, however, have argued that Africa’s biggest music awards platform should remain on the continent.

Organisers are yet to announce full details for the 18th edition, including the date, venue, and nomination list.
