Grace Makun has shared how deeply Alex Ekubo’s death affected her husband, designer Yomi Casual.

In a post shared, Grace said making Alex’s burial suit was “the hardest job he has ever done.” She recalled their usual banter about fittings, then the silence days before Alex died. “Yomi; ore your cloth is ready. Alex; no response.”

Yomi later went to the funeral home to dress Alex for the last time. Grace said he was desperate to get it perfect: “Alex go vex for me if that suit no come out well.” 

Seeing Alex look “so dapper one last time” broke him, but Grace told him, “You did it, I’m proud of your strength.”

Alex Ekubo died May 11, 2026, at 40 from kidney cancer. He was buried June 18 in Arochukwu, Abia State.

“We love you soooo much ore. This pain can never go away,” Grace wrote. “Rest in power oreeeee.”
