Reports of the death of Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings, whose real name is Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, sparked concern among gospel music fans on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, after lawyer Pelumi Olajengbesi shared a post about the singer.

Olajengbesi, convener of the Coalition of Public Interests Lawyers and Advocates (COPA), shared a photograph of the singer and expressed sadness over the reported development. His post was followed by reactions from social media users and members of the gospel music community.

However, the circumstances surrounding the report remained unclear in the media accounts reviewed, with no independently verified confirmation from the singer’s family or a medical authority established at the time of publication.

Gospel singer Lanre Alewilese appealed for prayers and urged people to stop spreading unconfirmed reports. In a message directed at Olajengbesi, he wrote, “Let's keep praying ejooorrr. We're still trusting God. Kindly stop the posting. Adura ni a need bayiii.”

Comedian and gospel content creator Woli Agba also urged people not to draw conclusions about the situation.

“E joor now! Please hold on. Please don't conclude. We are trusting God. Please!” he wrote in a message shared on Instagram.

The uncertainty surrounding the reports grew after an X user, identified as @EnnyUtd, claimed to have witnessed a popular gospel figure being taken to a hospital. The user said people at the facility were crying and expressed hope that the person would survive. The post did not initially identify the individual by name. Its connection to the reports about Toluwanisings was subsequently discussed online, but the account did not independently establish the singer’s identity, medical condition, or death.

Toluwanisings is known for his gospel music and energetic praise and worship sessions. His recordings include E Lagbara, A Very Big God, and Kabiyesi Olorun Ayo. His music combines gospel sounds with indigenous Nigerian praise traditions.

In July 2026, the singer also reported that he and members of his crew had survived a road accident involving their vehicle and a loaded trailer while returning from a gospel ministration. Sharing images of the damaged vehicle on social media, he expressed gratitude for their survival, writing, “And we survived what would have claimed our lives.”

The July incident attracted attention from fans and fellow gospel musicians. However, no verified information has established a connection between that accident and the reports circulating on October 14. As the reports spread, some social media users expressed grief, while others called for restraint until further information became available.

At the time of the reports reviewed, the circumstances surrounding the announcement remained unverified. No confirmed cause of death had been established in the available coverage.
