FOLA’s ‘catharsis’ crosses 1 billion streams one year after release
Nigerian singer-songwriter FOLA’s debut album, "catharsis", has crossed 1 billion streams across all platforms, exactly one year after its release.
FOLA announced the milestone on X on September 4, marking one year since the 11-track album was released on September 4, 2025. The project was released through Dangbana Republik and EMPIRE.
The album features collaborations with Victony, Kizz Daniel, Gabzy and Young Jonn, with tracks including “golibe,” “lost,” “robbery” and “disco.”
"catharsis" opened strongly on release, recording 10.66 million Spotify Nigeria streams in its first week and debuting at No. 1 on the platform’s weekly chart. It later continued its run across streaming platforms, with the album surpassing 300 million Spotify streams earlier this week.
On Audiomack, the album currently shows more than 305 million total plays, adding to its performance across the platforms where it is available.
Reflecting on the milestone, FOLA thanked the people who contributed to the album and those who listened to it: “A billion is just a number. I’ll hold the memories forever.”
He also thanked his collaborators, team, listeners, and everyone who shared or connected with the music before ending his message with, “Oro mi, lowo Olorun lowa,” which translates to, “My life is in the hands of God.”
