Nigerian singer and songwriter Fireboy DML has revealed that he was involved in the writing of Mystro’s 2018 hit song, “Immediately,” featuring Wizkid.

The revelation has sparked reactions among Nigerian music fans after a post shared by Wahala Network showed a statement attributed to Fireboy claiming he wrote the song and has also written songs for Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage.

“Immediately” was released by Mystro in 2018 and featured Wizkid on vocals. The song became one of Mystro’s notable records, with its danceable Afrobeats sound and Wizkid’s appearance helping it gain attention.

Fireboy’s songwriting involvement in the record is particularly notable because he was still building his own career around that period. 

Fireboy’s songwriting connection with Tiwa Savage is also documented.

He co-wrote “Temptation,” a Tiwa Savage song featuring British singer Sam Smith. Pitchfork reported in 2020 that Savage, Smith and Fireboy DML jointly wrote the song, which appeared on Savage’s Celia album.

Fireboy was also nominated for Songwriter of the Year at the 14th Headies for his work on “Dreamer,” showing that his songwriting abilities had already earned industry recognition beyond his work as a recording artiste. 

The latest revelation is therefore giving fans another look at Fireboy DML's career before he became one of Nigeria's prominent Afrobeats stars.
