Nigerian actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has announced that Jagun Jagun 2: War of Warriors, the sequel to his 2023 Yoruba epic film, will premiere on Netflix on December 4, 2026.

The actor unveiled the title and release date in a teaser shared on the night of October 11, introducing the upcoming film with a message about war, fear, and the legacy of a powerful figure. He wrote:

“Even in his absence, his name remained a curse whispered behind closed doors. Some men are made by war. Others are the reason kingdoms learn to fear it."

The announcement confirms the return of the Jagun Jagun franchise, which follows the struggles of warriors and the fight for power in a traditional Yoruba setting. Adebayo produced the original film, which was released on Netflix on August 10, 2023.

The first instalment follows Gbotija, a young man who joins the army of Ogundiji, a feared warlord, as he seeks to become a powerful warrior. His arrival challenges the existing order and sets off a conflict involving loyalty, ambition, and betrayal. The film featured Adebayo alongside Lateef Adedimeji, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Yekini, Bukunmi Oluwasina, and other Nollywood actors.

The movie Jagun Jagun won Best Indigenous Language Movie (West Africa) and Best Costume Design at the 2024 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards.

In a previous discussion, Femi Adebayo discussed plans for a sequel in a 2024 interview with Independent Newspaper Nigeria, explaining that the continuation would be a feature film rather than a series. He also pointed to a scene involving Ibrahim Chatta’s character at the end of the original movie as a hint of a possible continuation.

The announcement comes days after Adebayo opened Euphoria 360 Hub, a media and film production facility in Oregun, Lagos. The facility was commissioned on October 6, 2026, with production and post-production spaces for filmmakers and other creative professionals.

Jagun Jagun 2: War of Warriors is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on December 4, 2026.
