Falz Rebukes First Lady's Remarks on Government 'Pressure'
Nigerian rapper and actor Falz has criticised First Lady Oluremi Tinubu's recent appeal for patience with the federal government, arguing that public officials should expect the pressures that accompany the offices they sought.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, the entertainer dismissed suggestions that the demands placed on the current administration are excessive, saying governance is a responsibility leaders willingly accepted.
He also questioned the administration's priorities, alleging that government spending has favoured luxury purchases while millions of Nigerians continue to grapple with insecurity and other pressing challenges.
Falz referenced President Bola Tinubu's campaign slogan, "Emi L'okan" ("It's my turn"), saying it reflected a deliberate pursuit of power and should leave no room for complaints about the weight of leadership.
"What do you mean, pressure on the government? Did anyone beg you to take up this work?"
The rapper described the slogan as one of the most "absurd political statements" he had heard, arguing that anyone who campaigned so confidently for office should have anticipated the realities of governing.
"That means from day one that you set out on your political journey, this is the day you have been waiting for. So how can you come out and say the pressure is on you? Are you okay?"
