Ex-Nollywood Star Grace Bassey Announces Engagement
Former Nollywood actress and US Navy officer Grace Charis Bassey Effah is engaged.
She broke the news on her official Facebook page on Tuesday.
Photos accompanying the post showed her with her partner, though his face was kept out of view.
Her engagement ring was visible in the shots.
"Answered prayers. Age is just a number. Found someone worth it calling life with, beyond blessed," she wrote.
She followed up with another line: "It feels like a dream, but when true love finds you, you melt."
Fans and former colleagues flooded the comments with congratulatory messages.
Bassey left acting to join the US Navy in May 2025.
She completed Navy boot camp and later took the oath of allegiance to become a US citizen.
The milestone was dedicated to her late father, Asido Bassey Effah, a retired naval commander she credits with shaping her military ambitions.
Before her exit from the industry, she starred in the 2005 series Shallow Waters and broke into the mainstream through the reality show Next Movie Star.
Her acting run included a Most Promising Actor of the Year win at the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards.
She was known as Belinda Effah until 2021, when she changed her name to Grace-Charis following what she described as a spiritual experience.
