'Every Venue Will Sell Out': Davido names $500,000 fee for tour with Wizkid
Nigerian singer Davido has said he would demand $500,000 per show if he and fellow Afrobeats star Wizkid embarked on a joint tour, expressing confidence that the two artists would sell out venues wherever they perform.
Davido made the statement during an appearance on the IONWANNATALK show, where he discussed the possibility of working with Wizkid on new music and touring together.
“If we tour together, I’ll ask for $500,000 per show because I know every venue will sell out,” he said.
The singer, however, was less certain about the possibility of releasing a joint song with Wizkid. He explained that having two established musicians on the same record does not necessarily guarantee commercial success.
“If Wizkid and I do a song together, I don’t know if it will pop because when D’banj and 2Baba did a record together, it didn’t really pop,” Davido said.
He also revealed that he and Wizkid had not recorded a song together in approximately 10 years, attributing the gap to not being in the same mental space at different points in their relationship.
Davido further reflected on his previous feelings towards the singer, saying he no longer viewed their disagreements in the same way.
“I felt that way at some point but not anymore, and it takes a great man to do that,” he said.
The possibility of a joint tour between the two singers had previously been raised publicly. In January 2023, Wizkid announced on his Instagram Story that he and Davido would embark on a tour after his More Love, Less Ego tour.
“After my MLLE tour!! Davido and I are going on tour! Save your coins!” Wizkid wrote at the time.
However, the announcement did not lead to a publicly confirmed tour schedule, with neither artist subsequently announcing dates or venues for the proposed shows.
