Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has secured his first No. 1 on the UK Official Afrobeats Chart after his song ‘Ikebe 3000’, featuring Asake, climbed from second place to the top of the November 1–7 ranking.

The song debuted at No. 2 in the week of October 11–17 and maintained that position for three consecutive weeks before taking the top spot in its fourth week on the chart, according to the Official Charts Company.

‘Ikebe 3000’ displaced Ayra Starr and Zayn’s ‘Heaven Baby’, which fell to No. 2 after leading the previous week’s ranking.

Released on October 2 through Chocolate City Music, ‘Ikebe 3000’ is featured on Blaqbonez’s fifth studio album, NOMADINHO: 4TH PRIME, which arrived on October 16. The 15-track project also features Victony, Ruger, TML Vibez, Igwe Aka and Monochrome.

The song marks another chart success for Blaqbonez and Asake, who previously collaborated on ‘Chanel’. The track reached No. 3 on the UK Official Afrobeats Chart and spent 13 weeks on the ranking.

Blaqbonez has spoken about how ‘Ikebe 3000’ came together, saying he first recorded the song in June at a friend’s studio in Lagos. He revisited the track with Asake in August, following the success of ‘Chanel’, and said the singer returned his verse within 24 hours.

The UK Official Afrobeats Chart ranks songs based on sales and streams in the United Kingdom over a seven-day period. ‘Ikebe 3000’ reaching the top gives Blaqbonez his first No. 1 on the chart, following the earlier success of ‘Chanel’ with Asake.
