Comedian and former BBNaija housemate DeeOne has stirred conversation online after advising Peter Obi to change his political strategy if he plans to contest seriously in the 2027 presidential election.

In a video shared on social media, DeeOne reacted to the recent launch of the City Boy Movement, a support group backing President Bola Tinubu ahead of the next election cycle.

The group, linked to the president’s son Seyi Tinubu, reportedly includes some former supporters of Peter Obi in leadership roles across parts of the South-East.

DeeOne said this development should serve as a wake-up call for Obi and his followers. According to him, winning elections requires more than popularity and catchy slogans.

He argued that Obi’s well-known phrase about not spending money during campaigns may no longer be effective and could hurt his chances in 2027.

“You can’t run a presidential race with vibes and sympathy,” DeeOne said in his own words. “Politics needs planning, structure, and support for the people working on the ground.”

The comedian claimed that during the last election, some party agents were poorly catered for at polling units, leaving them without basic necessities like food and water.

He insisted that people who protect votes and represent a party on election day deserve proper care and motivation.
DeeOne also suggested that if Obi does not want to personally fund his campaign, he should openly ask supporters to contribute and then show how the money is being used.

He warned Obi’s supporters not to underestimate rival political movements, saying the City Boy Movement shows how early preparations are already underway for 2027.

In his closing remarks, DeeOne said his criticism was not driven by hatred but by concern.
“Telling him the truth doesn’t mean we’re against him,” he said. “It just means we want him to do better next time.”

The comments have since sparked mixed reactions online, with some agreeing that political campaigns need stronger structure, while others defended Obi’s previous approach.
