Davido Submits ‘Oriade’ Album, Five Songs for 2027 Grammy Awards Consideration
Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido has submitted his sixth studio album, Oriade, alongside five songs for consideration at the 2027 Grammy Awards, as he seeks to secure another opportunity for recognition at one of the world's biggest music awards.
The submissions include his album and collaborations with Mayorkun, FOLA, South African music group TxC, Ayra Starr and other artistes. The entries span several categories, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best African Music Performance.
The development was reported on Tuesday, October 13, following information shared by The Grammy Guru, a platform that tracks Grammy submissions and developments.
However, the submissions do not mean Davido has received nominations. The entries must go through the Recording Academy's eligibility checks and voting process before the final list of nominees is announced.
Davido's album, Oriade, was submitted for consideration in four categories: Album of the Year, Best Global Music Album, Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, and Best Album Cover.
The 13-track album was released on July 31, 2026, through Davido Music Worldwide and Sony Music.
Its submission for Album of the Year places it among the projects seeking consideration across the Grammy Awards' broader album categories, while its entry for Best Global Music Album focuses on music from outside the Recording Academy's traditional American pop and mainstream genre groupings.
Beyond Oriade, Davido submitted several songs for consideration across different categories. ‘B4 B4’ featuring Mayorkun and FOLA: Submitted for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best African Music Performance, ‘Nakupenda’ featuring TxC, Zlatan, Shoday, Scotts Maphuma and Al Xapo: Submitted for Song of the Year and Best African Music Performance, ‘Le Show’ featuring Ayra Starr and French Montana: Submitted for Best African Music Performance and, ‘I Know Who I Be’ featuring JAZZWRLD and GL_Ceejay: Submitted for Best Music Video.
These entries give Davido opportunities for consideration in categories that recognise different aspects of music, from songwriting and overall recording quality to African musical performance and visual production.
Davido's latest submissions come after his first Grammy nominations at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards in 2024.
His album Timeless was nominated for Best Global Music Album, while ‘Unavailable’, featuring Musa Keys, and ‘Feel’ received nominations in the Best African Music Performance category. He did not win in any of the three categories.
The nominations marked an important milestone in the singer's international career and brought further attention to Nigerian Afrobeats and its growing presence in the global music industry.
Since then, Davido has continued releasing music and collaborating with artistes from Nigeria and other countries, helping to maintain his profile within the international Afrobeats scene.
His latest submissions represent another attempt to secure Grammy recognition, although the outcome will depend on the Academy's selection process.
The Recording Academy's first-round voting for the 69th Annual Grammy Awards runs from October 12 to October 22, 2026. The nominees are scheduled to be announced on November 16, 2026, while the awards ceremony will take place on February 7, 2027, in Los Angeles.
During the first round, eligible Recording Academy voting members help determine which submissions advance to the nomination stage. A submission is therefore only an entry for consideration, not confirmation that an artiste has been nominated.
The final round of voting will determine the winners after the nominees are announced.
Davido is not the only Nigerian artiste seeking recognition at the 2027 Grammys. Other Nigerian musicians, including Tems, Ayra Starr and Asake, have also been linked to submissions for the upcoming awards.
With the nomination announcement approaching, attention will turn to which of Davido's submissions make the final list and whether the singer can convert another Grammy campaign into a win.
