Bobrisky Defends Luminee, Calls Out Angel and Nkechi Blessing Over Baba Ijesha Baby Backlash
Controversial internet personality Bobrisky has waded into the heated debate surrounding Luminee and Baba Ijesha’s newborn, slamming critics who condemned the couple.
Reacting to the backlash Luminee faced after announcing the birth of her son with Baba Ijesha, Bobrisky questioned the right of others to judge her decision. “Who gave you the audacity to judge Luminee? So Baba Ijesha is not a human being anymore?” Bobrisky said, directly calling out Big Brother Naija star Angel JB Smith, actress Nkechi Blessing, and others who criticised the couple.
The controversy started after Luminee shared photos and a heartfelt post celebrating the birth of her baby boy, King Kagar Omiyinka. Angel JB Smith was among the first to publicly condemn Luminee for having a child with Baba Ijesha, referencing his 2022 conviction for sexually assaulting a minor. Her comments sparked a wave of online debate, with some supporting her stance and others defending Luminee’s right to choose her partner.
Bobrisky, no stranger to public feuds, pushed back hard. While Bobrisky argued that Baba Ijesha remains a human being despite his past, critics say the comment ignores the seriousness of his crime.
Baba Ijesha, real name Olanrewaju James, was sentenced to 16 years in prison in 2022 but was later released on bail pending appeal. He and Luminee held a traditional wedding before announcing their child.
The back-and-forth has split social media. Some users agree with Bobrisky, saying people deserve second chances and the right to build families. Others say the focus should remain on the victim of Baba Ijesha’s crime, and that celebrating him publicly is insensitive.
Neither Angel JB Smith nor Nkechi Blessing has responded to Bobrisky’s comments yet. Luminee has also stayed silent on the criticism, choosing to focus on her new role as “Mummy King Kagar.”
