Popular Nigerian content creator Asherkine has claimed he was stopped by officials of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) while filming on campus without prior approval.

In a video shared on social media, the influencer alleged that he was interrupted during the shoot and taken to the university's Student Affairs office before being escorted by security personnel.

Expressing his frustration over the incident, Asherkine said the experience explains why he rarely creates content at the institution despite being an alumnus.

"That's why I don't come here. It's my school too, but that's why I don't come," he said.

According to him, he has filmed at several higher institutions across Nigeria without facing similar restrictions.

Asherkine was reportedly on the UNILAG campus to shoot one of his content videos when officials approached him over the recording. He claimed he was informed that filming on the university premises requires official permission, after which he was taken to the Student Affairs office and later escorted by security personnel.

The content creator maintained that he was unaware of the requirement before commencing the shoot.

UNILAG has not publicly commented on Asherkine's claims at the time of filing this report.

The university, like many tertiary institutions, has regulations governing commercial activities and media production on its premises, with permissions often required before filming can take place.
