No man can break my heart at 62, Mo Abudu says
Nigerian media entrepreneur Mo Abudu has said no man can break her heart at this stage of her life, urging women to walk away from relationships with partners who no longer want to be with them.
The EbonyLife founder made the remarks during a conversation with media personality Toke Makinwa on the Toke Moments podcast, where she discussed heartbreak, dating and her expectations of a partner.
“Nobody can break my heart. It’s not possible. There’s no such thing as heartbreak at my age. If I cry, it’s not because of a man. It may be because of my work,” Abudu said.
The 62-year-old also advised women against trying to convince men to remain in relationships when they have lost interest.
“You cannot make a man be in a relationship with you. If he wants to be, he will. If he doesn’t want to be in it, he’s kidding you. Leave him. Move on,” she said.
Abudu warned women against lowering their standards to keep a relationship going. She said women should recognise when a partner is no longer interested rather than continue making excuses for his behaviour.
She cited situations in which a man stops calling for weeks or repeatedly claims to be busy as signs women should pay attention to, advising them to move on from partners who do not show genuine interest.
The media entrepreneur also spoke about her expectations of a potential partner, saying she would prefer to date a man her age or slightly older.
She said she no longer needed a man to provide for her because she could support herself and her family. According to Abudu, a prospective partner must have achieved something she can respect, adding that she does not want anyone who would become a burden in her life.
Abudu, who turned 62 on September 11, 2026, founded EbonyLife, a media company with interests in television, film and studio production.
She previously hosted Moments with Mo before expanding into film and television production through EbonyLife. Her work includes the film Fifty and the Netflix series Blood Sisters.
