President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday met with Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, in Abuja over the recent surge in violence in the state.

The meeting followed a deadly attack in Jos earlier in the week that left dozens feared dead, sparking renewed concerns about insecurity in the North-Central region. Mutfwang’s visit to the Presidential Villa came after he was called in for urgent talks on the situation.

Before the meeting, the President had openly condemned the killings, describing the attackers as ruthless and insisting they would be brought to justice. He also instructed security agencies to intensify operations in affected areas.

Tinubu, however, warned against framing the attacks along religious lines, noting that such narratives could further inflame tensions in the state.

In a quick shift of plans, the President is now set to travel to Jos to sympathise with victims and assess the situation firsthand. His earlier scheduled trip to Ogun State has been put on hold.

The visit is expected to focus on immediate steps to prevent further violence, as Plateau continues to deal with recurring security challenges.
