Saheed Osupa Admits Using Juju for Success, Sparks Controversy
Fuji musician Saheed Osupa (also known as Saheed Okunola) openly admitted that he uses juju (voodoo) to achieve success in life and his career. He made the revelation while performing at the 52nd birthday celebration of veteran Yoruba actor Fatai Odua, also known as Laide, on March 30, 2026.
During the performance, Saheed Osupa declared: “Everybody practises voodoo. While some hide behind the scenes to do theirs, I do mine in the open.” He dismissed claims that he relies only on the Bible and Quran, calling such statements “pure lies.”
The Fuji star explained that his use of juju is not for evil purposes. “I didn’t kill anyone with my juju or commit evil with it. I am only looking for how to progress. Nothing more,” he said. He added that without spiritual help, success would be impossible. “If I don’t engage in voodoo, what else should I have employed? Is it Phensic or Panadol that will make me successful?”
Saheed stressed the importance of comfort in life. “It is not good to be poor and still not live a good life. Even if one is not enormously rich but should enjoy comfort.” He revealed that he pays homage to his Ifa deity every morning upon waking.
He also mentioned refusing advice to deny being fetish in an interview. “Somebody told me one time to grant an interview, denying that I’m a fetish person, but I told him that I am, and why should I deny it.”
Saheed further advised his backup singers to use certain voodoo items to aid memory and well-being, clarifying that it does not make them fetish but supports their performance.
His bold confession has drawn widespread criticism online, with many people questioning his claims that “everybody practises voodoo.” The video of the moment has gone viral, generating strong reactions across social media.
The incident adds to ongoing conversations about spirituality, success, and openness in the Nigerian entertainment industry. Saheed Osupa remains one of the prominent voices in Fuji music.
