Peter Okoye birthday change has triggered reactions online after the music star defended his decision to move his birthday celebration from November 18 to November 30.

The singer, also known as Mr P and one-half of the former music duo P-Square, announced the shift on Monday, stating that he would no longer receive messages or gifts on the original date.
In a post shared on Tuesday, he expressed surprise at the criticism that followed, questioning why the change was being treated as a major issue.

He compared the reaction to debates around widely recognised dates such as Christmas, suggesting that people were reacting too emotionally to a personal decision.

Peter also argued that the attention given to his birthday adjustment was unnecessary, especially when compared to more pressing national concerns.

In his words, he suggested that success should not be undermined by criticism, adding that people who have achieved success should be allowed to enjoy it in peace.

The singer rose to fame alongside his twin brother, Paul Okoye, as part of P-Square, one of Africa’s most successful music groups in the 2000s and early 2010s.

The duo later experienced multiple splits and reconciliations, with their first major public fallout reported around 2015 over issues linked to management and royalties.

They officially separated in 2017, with Peter performing as Mr P while Paul adopted the stage name Rudeboy.

Although they reunited in 2021 and released new music together, tensions later resurfaced, leading to renewed public disagreements and legal disputes involving family and business matters.
