Court Allows ICPC Access to Devices Seized from El-Rufai’s Abuja Residence
A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission permission to examine electronic devices recovered from the home of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik approved the request after the anti-graft agency asked the court to allow forensic analysis of the gadgets as part of an ongoing investigation.
The ruling authorises investigators to review data stored on the devices, including messages, call records, documents and other digital information.
The items were seized during a search conducted at El-Rufai’s Abuja residence.
However, the former governor has filed a separate suit challenging the search, claiming it violated his fundamental rights and seeking ₦1 billion in damages.
The commission maintains the operation was carried out lawfully with a valid court-issued search warrant.
